
Suzanne Pleshette, born 31 January 1937 and died 19 January 2008, was an American film, television, theatre, and voice actress. Pleshette began her professional career in the theater, and then she was in films in the late 1950s. She was later featured in notable films like Rome Adventure (1962), Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963), or Spirited Away (192001). In later years, she was a part of many television productions and was frequently as a guest actor. She played Emily Hartley in The Bob Newhart Show, 1972-1978 in which she won numerous Emmy Award nominations. Pleshette is the daughter of Geraldine (nee Kaplan),[1] and Eugene Pleshette, was born on January 31, 1937, in Brooklyn Heights. Her parents were Jewish, the descendants of emigrants from Russia and Austria-Hungary.Her mother was an artist and dancer who performed under the stage name Geraldine Rivers. Her father was stage director for the Paramount Theater, Manhattan, as well as the Paramount Theater, Brooklyn.
